 Understanding Music

"The ability to understand music is not a prerequisite to being a singer.  However, the more fluent you are in "music-speak", the broader your musical universe becomes, opening whole new worlds of possibility."

Understanding music will help introduce you to core concepts of musicianship and musicality.  You'll learn about the symbols you see on music pages and begin to piece together the language that is music. Through this understanding, you'll become more aware of things like tempo, rhythm, pitch, scales and more.

Ear Training

Have you ever been called, or thought yourself, "tone deaf"? The good news is, barring medical conditions, tone-deafness CAN be corrected.  Utilizing simple exercises, you'll start to be able to recognize differences in tones and hone your musical ear.

Music Theory for Singers

Understanding music theory will help you be more in control of your sound and communicate better with musicians.  Additonally, being able to read music will give you a much more viable skill set than just singing by ear.

Songwriting

Lyrics are simply thoughts or poems set to music.   There are specific formulas that are used to create mood, motion, emotion and more.  Learn how to develop your ideas into solid songs.

"It gives you a feeling of great satisfaction and joy knowing that you can reach deep down into yourself, and return, to share that part of you with someone else.  This is what it means to be an Artist.  As Artists, we have the ability to let people see the beauty that we see; to feel the emotions that we feel.  We are the magic makers of the world, weaving our tapestries of thought and emotion, creating positive change in those we touch."
